The march of the “Immortal Regiment” on May 9 in Berlin will not be held. This is due to the demands of the police, as stated by the representative of the organizers of the action “Immortal Regiment” in the German capital Yana Daugarova.
The main reason is the unstable epidemiological situation in the country. In Berlin, it will not be possible to provide the measures required by the police in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. In particular, the police require the presence of observers at the event, who would watch how the participants wear protective masks and maintain a distance of one and a half meters. However, the organizers of the procession do not have so many people.
At the same time, the organizers invite people for a minute of silence and the laying of flowers at the Tiergarten memorial. A minute of silence will take place at approximately 12.00 (13.00 Moscow time). In addition, the Immortal Regiment processions will be held on May 9 in several other cities in Germany. However, they will not be as massive as planned in Berlin.
Thus, the “Immortal Regiment” march will not take place in Berlin on Victory Day for the second year in a row. At the same time, in 2020, many people came to the Soviet war memorials in Treptower Park, as well as in the Tiergarten, with posters that were made specifically for the action.
