It is one thing to learn how to design websites, but just because you know how to design websites does not mean people will automatically line up at your door to pay you to design sites for them. You have to go out and search for clients that will hire you. To find the best clients possible for your work, continue reading this article.

For freelance designers there aren’t many better tools out there than Craigslist. You can either post ads that promote yourself and your designing talents or you can search through the potential clients that are looking to hire a web designer. Since there are so many clients looking for short-term employees on Craigslist, you should be able to find some work there that interests you.

You don’t have to promote yourself alone. Let your friends know about what you are doing with your web designing services so that they can tell people they know about what you can do.

Many clients have trouble when looking for designers because they do not really know how to trust. Sure, someone’s resume might say that they have experience in certain design languages but do they truly know how to use those languages to their fullest potential when designing a website? One way you can counteract these concerns that potential clients have is by creating some sample websites. This allows the client to know exactly what to expect when they hire you and they will know you are competent at what you are going to do for them.

Social media websites are great ways to really get your name out there. Create some accounts that are dedicated specifically for your web designing abilities. You can even show some examples of your work on these social media websites and include testimonials. You can then have friends or family members share any interesting updates that you post from your account promoting your web design skills. Their friends will see these updates and may then become interested in what you have to offer them.

Just because you knew how to design a website ten years ago does not mean anything in today’s world. Many of those concepts that were used back then are not applicable today. For example, when was the last time you saw a website using those frames for the top and side navigation? Those types of features have gone out of style a long time ago. If you are having trouble finding web design work, maybe the problem is that you allowed other designers to pass you up while you were not staying up to date with current trends. Be sure to keep yourself educated about how to create websites in today’s world.
