On September 25, from 6 pm to 10 pm, the “Long Night of Consulates” will take place in Stuttgart for the first time. This pivotal event for the Europe in Baden-Württemberg project is overseen by the Ministry of Justice and Europe and the Commissioner for Civil Society and Civil Participation.

Long Night of Consulates will take place for the first time in Stuttgart on 25 September 2020. Baden-Württemberg has become home to many people from different parts of Europe and around the world. The Consulates General and Honorary Consulates in Stuttgart, the Institute for International Relations, Europahaus and the capital of the federal state of Stuttgart will open their doors to show the diversity of the peoples inhabiting the federal state, their significant contribution to the life of the federal state, its cultural component.

Baden-Württemberg is located in the very heart of Europe and has become a favorite home for representatives of many peoples of Europe and the world. On the other hand, many institutions from here – from Stuttgart – build cultural bridges linking Baden-Württemberg with many near and distant countries. The “Long Night of Consulates” will help to fully experience the unity of peoples and good neighborly coexistence.

On September 25, residents of Stuttgart will experience an extensive cultural program prepared by the Consulates General and Honorary Consulates, the Institute for International Relations, Europahaus and the municipal authorities of Stuttgart. “The participants in the long night of consulates bring a piece of their identity to our common home – Baden-Württemberg, and thus contribute to cultural enrichment and better mutual understanding,” says Gisela Erler, Commissioner for Civil Society and Civil Participation.

The events prepared by the participants are diverse, as is the geography of the countries of origin of the inhabitants of Baden-Württemberg. The path to rapprochement lies through the stomach. “Long Night of Consulates” is a great opportunity to taste dishes of national cuisines of different countries, participate in conversations with international experts, immerse yourself in the national flavor, get acquainted with folk and church music or take part in virtual excursions.
