President of the Conference of German Bishops (Deutsche Bischofskonferenz) Georg Bötzing proposes to establish a nationwide Crown Memorial Day. “This will be the day when it will be possible to honor the memory of many people who died from the crown. But, above all, it is a sign of confidence that we can overcome the pandemic and other crises by combining our efforts, ” – the Bishop of Limburg told the newspapers of the media group Funke. As a possible date, he named the start of routine corona virus vaccinations.
At the beginning of September, the President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier (Frank-Walter Steinmeier) held an official mourning ceremony for the victims of the pandemic in Germany, so as not to leave the relatives of the deceased alone in their grief. He noted that death from COVID is a lonely death, as patients die without the support of relatives and without the opportunity to say goodbye. The President proposed creating an official memorial and memorial service for those people who died as a result of the pandemic.
