SPD member of the party, health specialist epidemiologist Karl Lauterbach believes that there will be no second lockdown in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic in Germany. “There is no need to re-quarantine,” Lauterbach told Business Insider magazine.

The epidemiologist criticized Thursday’s new measures to combat the pandemic. The biggest mistake, in his opinion, is the lack of agreement between the federal states on the number of participants at the holidays. “It is these events that will play an important role in the spread of the virus in the coming months. The correct solution would be to limit the number of party participants in private spaces to 25 people and in public ones to 50 people, ”Lauterbach insists.

The key to success, he said, is intelligent testing and effective recognition and pursuit of infection chains. The closure of schools and kindergartens (as it was in March this year), the specialist calls a mistake. “Under no circumstances will we be able to afford to completely stop the work of schools and kindergartens once again,” the politician clarifies. It will be too difficult for children to go through such a situation a second time. Moreover, this returnable category is not at risk. At the same time, teachers and educators should be regularly tested.
