The German Teachers Association is against changing school hours. The idea of schools opening later, after most of the adults have already left for work, was put forward by the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV). Teachers’ Association President Heinz-Peter Meidinger said that the late start of schools does not solve the main problem: “There will probably be fewer people on the buses and in the metro. But this will not solve the main problem. The problem of complete classes. Now in schools, children do not study in shifts, but as before the pandemic. “
And theoretically, it is simply impossible to shift the start time of lessons in many regions. The buses that children take to school are often used by adults. But even in regions where there are school buses, at other times they are used as regular shuttle vehicles. The postponement of the beginning of the school time will also cause new problems, for example, with the organization of lunch, and with the entire work cycle. Up to the point that many parents will have to leave for work later, because they have to take their children to school. This fact will again lead to the fact that public transport will be loaded in the later morning hours.
