Civil action v. German Health Minister Jens Spahn (Jens Spahn) in the amount of 5.5 million euros on behalf of the mask supplier of the company “KohlConsult GmbH»Sent to the Bonn Regional Court.
One of the sons of the former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl – Walter – has sued a member of the federal government in connection with his possible failure to fulfill his obligations in the purchase of medical masks. As noted on April 3, the German tabloid Bild, a claim in the amount of 5.5 million euros was sent to the Bonn Regional Court (North Rhine-Westphalia).
Kohl Jr.’s company KohlConsult GmbH took part in the tender of the Ministry of Health of Germany in 2020 and received an order for the supply of 1 million professional respiratory masks of the FFP2 class at a price of 4.50 euros apiece. According to the publication, the task was completed in the spring of last year, but the German department did not pay the bills.
“I don’t understand why Jens Spahn and his ministry knowingly violate their contracts. Neither he nor the department obviously adhere to the key principle that agreements must be followed,” Walter Kohl told the newspaper. He explained to the newspaper that the lawsuit dates back to July 2020 and that there are more than 70 similar complaints in the Bonn court at this stage.
The representative of the Ministry of Health of Germany, in turn, noted that the department “does not comment on the details of the current proceedings.”
In court, at the request of the agency dpa said that it is not yet clear when the hearing will be scheduled.
