While the vaccination campaign in Germany, limping, picks up steam, the government is betting on a new “horse” – free express tests. Their financing has already been promised by German Finance Minister Peter Altmeier.
To counter the spread of coronavirus infection and prevent a third wave of the pandemic following the introduction of mitigation of existing restrictive measures, Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn plans to make free rapid tests available to all citizens of the country starting March 1. The politician wrote about this on Twitter. He also added that rapid tests for home use should be available soon, which do not require specially trained personnel.
The media report that for the analysis, the test person’s saliva will be needed.
