Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Prime Ministers of the Lands agreed that concessions can be introduced if the regions reach a coefficient of 35, which is stable at this level. Cologne Mayor Henrietta Recker has set a new goal – the incidence rate in the city should drop to 10.
“We need to work to bring the incidence rate to 10, and then – this is the most important thing – to keep it at this level,” said the politician. Moving from one lockdown to the next only leads to frustration and fatigue.
“We need to reduce the number of new infections to such a low level that the community can cope well with them. From the point of view of experts, the situation can be kept under control if the incidence rate is at 10. The situation will not overload the healthcare system and burden the economy. ” If the incidence rises again, short-term, but extremely harsh measures must be introduced quickly to eradicate the virus in the bud.
