The government of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg allowed the sale of tests through online platforms of haberdashery stores, for example, from the manufacturer Cerascreen. Early next year, they will appear at dm. Competitor – Rossmann also offers antibody tests.
For over a month now, dm customers have been able to order an antibody test through the online store. The company is pleased with the turnover it produces, ”said Managing Director Sebastian Bayer. It costs 59.95 euros to test yourself for antibodies using the dm test. Bayer also emphasizes that “customer demand for a coronavirus antibody test is very high. We are currently checking whether we can also offer this product in our dm stores. “
Research by the chip.de portal showed that the first tests from the manufacturer Cerascreen should appear in the branches of the dm retail chain no later than the first quarter of 2021. Dm’s competitor, Rossmann, is also introducing two antibody tests into the online store’s assortment. You can purchase a product from Lykon for 59.95 euros and from AProof for 49 euros each.
Antibody tests, which can be purchased from DM and Rossmann branches in Germany, can show that a test subject has had the coronavirus. Experts emphasize that a positive test result does not indicate immunity against the disease. This fact is a significant reason why residents of the country cannot use these tests as proof of the absence of an illness for travel or in everyday work. “But, in all likelihood, a positive test indicates that SARS-COV-2 disease has been transferred,” – written on the instructions for use of tests from Cerascreen, AProff and Lykon.
However, antibody tests may not show that the person being tested is currently infected. Laboratories only test blood samples for IgG antibodies. In the case of an actual infection, the antibody test may be negative, because such antibodies can only be detected in the blood several weeks after the disease.
