The ministers of education of the federal states decided at a conference held on Thursday, April 8, that schools should open and continue to operate if the epidemiological situation allows it. This is stated in a joint resolution of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Culture (KMC).
“Even in this difficult phase of the coronavirus pandemic, education policy is responsible for ensuring access to education and learning for children and young people,” said KMK President Britta Ernst. “Therefore, our common goal is to provide children with as much full-time education as possible.”
This goal can be achieved through a nationwide, massive testing and vaccination strategy. “Opportunities for testing should be so extensive that all students and teachers, as well as all employees of educational institutions, could be tested twice a week,” Ernst said. “We are informing our graduates that they will be able to pass the final exams.”
However, the federal state of North-Rhine-Westphalia reported that from Monday after the holidays until Monday April 16, all schoolchildren will be shod to study remotely.
