Russia and China have weapons that can destroy or disable US satellites. This was announced on May 1 by the commander of the United States Space Force, Major General John Raymond.
Raymond noted that the main goal of the United States is not to get into conflict and to prevent aggravation of relations in the space sphere.
“Space is an area of war, just like air, land and sea, and this is what has really materialized over the past few years, when both China, which is our constant threat, and Russia have developed weapons that can either disable our satellites, or destroy them from the ground or from space, or in cyberspace, “- quoted by The Washington Post.
Earlier, on March 23, Russia and the United States at consultations on space security issues expressed their interest in continuing the dialogue on this issue.
On March 9, Commander Raymond said that the capabilities of Russia and China in outer space are causing concern in Washington.
Raymond noted that Beijing and Moscow, among other things, have anti-satellite missiles and other systems. Thus, Russia, he said, had previously used a satellite designed to destroy US satellites in orbit.
State Duma deputy Ruslan Balbek replied to this that Russia is indeed a developed space power, but not at all aggressive.
