The press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg announced on April 20 the arrest of the former head of the special department of the Federal Fire Service No. 50 of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation on suspicion of fraud.
The investigation suggests that, together with his accomplices, from August 2016 to December 2019, he practiced extortion from subordinates. So, according to law enforcement officers, he forced employees to write reports “on the provision of additional material assistance”, for which they had to stage diseases and other “difficult circumstances.” They had to return 50% of the payments to the boss.
The total damage to the budget of the Russian Federation amounted to at least 1.3 million rubles. The circumstances of the case are being clarified, as well as the preventive measure against the suspect.
