Anomalous Siberian frosts will come to Moscow next week. This was announced to RIA Novosti by a leading employee of the Phobos weather center, Yevgeny Tishkovets, on Thursday, January 7th.
“The last three years, we have not seen such a cold, our winters were warm. Therefore, for the first time in several years, Siberian frosts will hit Moscow and Central Russia. That is winter with normal snowdrifts and abnormal frosts, ”said the forecaster.
According to him, a powerful cold snap will begin in the evening on January 10.
“The most interesting thing is expected next week, when the Arctic and even ultrapolar invasion of air masses begins: the temperature background will collapse very strongly, become abnormally low and we will find ourselves in the den of a real Siberian winter,” Tishkovets said.
He added that on Monday morning, January 11, the air temperature will drop to -15 … -20 degrees. During the day it will be no higher than -12 …- 17 degrees.
On the night of January 12, it will get colder to –20 … –25 degrees, in some places to –27. During the day in the capital, it is expected -15 …- 17 degrees, in the Moscow region it will reach -14 …- 20.
The meteorologist noted that there were no such frosts either last or the winter before last.
“So we are preparing warm winter clothes, the tests of Russian frosts await us ahead of us, which is probably also nice, we haven’t seen this for a long time,” he concluded.
The day before, Tishkovets promised Muscovites a real Russian winter with snow and light frosts for Christmas – from –4 to –6 in the capital and –3 to –8 in the region. According to his forecasts, the snowdrifts on January 7 will increase to 21-22 cm.
