Five members of a terrorist group created in a Kalmyk colony detained

In three Russian regions, five more defendants in the criminal case on the creation of a terrorist community in correctional colony No. 2 in Kalmykia were detained.

According to the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia, in Kabardino-Balkaria, Dagestan and Buryatia, during investigative actions, five people were detained on suspicion of organizing a terrorist community in Colony No. 2 of the Office of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Republic of Kazakhstan. The security forces conducted searches at the place of residence of the suspects and their close relatives.

As reported earlier by “Moskovsky Komsomolets in Kalmykia”, the Main Investigation Department of the TFR in the North Caucasus Federal District opened a criminal case against 22 people under Part 1 and Part 2 of Art. 205.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (creation of a terrorist community and participation in it). In July 2020, a criminal case against one of the members of the terrorist community Mikhail Zhigunov was sent to the court for consideration on the merits.

Let us remind you that in total in this criminal case, 40 citizens appear as suspects and accused, including the head of the colony No. 2 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Republic of Kazakhstan Pavel Bataev and his former deputy Artur Tsamaev.
