In Russia, the fish protection zones have been proposed to be replaced by fishery reserves. The State Duma plans to consider the corresponding bill in the second reading.

The amendments describe transitional provisions regarding the recognition of fish protection zones as fishery protected areas. Fish protection zones established before July 1, 2021, as well as the territory in which forests are located, referred to spawning forest zones until July 1, 2021, and the reservoir itself are recognized as fishery protected areas. This status will be maintained until January 1, 2025.

The bill also outlines bans and restrictions on activities in fish protection zones and water protection zones. A ban on contamination of the territory of the water protection zone with harmful substances will be fixed. A number of rules will be eliminated, writes Parlamentskaya Gazeta,

The government believes that the abolition of prohibitions on activities within the boundaries of fish protection zones will not lead to a weakening of the legal regime of the territory. The new rules will allow entrepreneurs to be exempted from duplicating mandatory requirements.
