The first batches of the KoviVac vaccine were sent to the regions of Russia. This was announced on Friday, April 16, by the General Director of the Federal Research Center for Research and Development of Immunobiological Preparations named after V.I. MP Chumakov RAS “Aidar Ishmukhametov.
“The first lots of the whole-virion inactivated vaccine“ Kovivac ”, created at the Center. Chumakov for the prevention of coronavirus infection, were sent to the Russian regions late last night. We are gradually starting to ship and send our vaccine to consumers, ”the TASS specialist said.
The first coronavirus vaccine in Russia and in the world was registered on August 11 last year. A drug called “Sputnik V” was developed at the Gamaleya Center. The second Russian vaccine was the drug “EpiVacCorona” from the “Vector” center. It was registered in the fall of 2020.
The third Russian vaccine against coronavirus was developed by the Center. M.P. Chumakov RAS. The drug was named “KoviVak”. The vaccine was registered on February 20.
Earlier that day, the director of the Institute of Experimental Medicine, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Dmitriev said that St. Petersburg scientists are developing a ryazhenka-flavored coronavirus vaccine. According to him, it is planned to complete preclinical trials of the drug in the coming year.
When creating an “edible” vaccine against coronavirus, a fragment of the synthesized Sars-Cov-2 genome is inserted into the genome of lactic acid bacteria, and as a result, it begins to produce the coronavirus protein, which provides an immune response in the body, the specialist added.
