U.S. Federal Police on Tuesday released new footage of a man suspected of planting homemade bombs in Washington on January 5, the day before the assault on Congress, in hopes of gathering information leading to the identify.

The video made public shows images of the suspect captured by surveillance cameras in several streets of the American capital. Dressed in black pants and a tracksuit top, his face is obscured by a hood, mask and glasses. He wears gloves and holds a backpack in one hand.

The FBI had previously published photos of the suspect, including the designer sneakers on his feet, offering a reward of $ 100,000 for any information leading to his arrest.

The man is suspected of having planted homemade bombs near the headquarters of the Republican and Democratic parties, near the Capitol. The bombs never exploded and may have only been intended to keep police away from the Capitol just before the assault.

“We continue to think that someone, somewhere, has information the importance of which they haven’t realized until now,” said Steven D’Antuono, deputy director of the FBI’s Washington office.

These homemade bombs were “operational devices that could have exploded, causing serious injury or death,” he said.

Several thousand supporters of Donald Trump stormed the seat of Congress on January 6, when elected officials certified the victory of his Democratic rival, Joe Biden, in the presidential election.

Five people have died in the attack, the spontaneous nature of which is increasingly questioned, and more than 300 people have been arrested so far in connection with their participation in the assault.
