He noted that on December 29, the decision of the EU Council on a written procedure on the provisional application of the agreement will be finalized.
The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced on December 24 that the European Union and the United Kingdom, after months of difficult negotiations, have reached an agreement on a future partnership after Brexit.
According to Michel Barnier, the EU’s chief negotiator on Brexit, the agreement provides for free trade without quotas and tariffs, unrestricted access to each other’s territory, sea and air space, and balanced access to marine resources.
In turn, Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said that Russia positively assesses the deal between the European Union and Great Britain. According to him, thanks to this agreement, one shock in international relations has decreased.
Voting in the UK parliament on a bill on a trade agreement with the European Union will take place on December 30.
The UK officially left the European Union at midnight on January 31, 2020.
