The European Union positively assessed the announcement of the cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was announced on Tuesday, November 10, at a press conference in Brussels by the official representative of the EU’s foreign policy service Peter Stano.

“We have taken note of the announcement of the ceasefire, we are happy about it. The EU did not stop calling for an end to hostilities, ”RIA Novosti quotes him.

According to the European representative, the EU expects additional details of the agreements reached in order to present its position in more detail.

The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a statement on the cessation of hostilities in Karabakh. In particular, the agreement provides for the introduction of a Russian peacekeeping mission, the exchange of prisoners and the return of refugees to Karabakh and adjacent areas under the control of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

12 Russian military transport aircraft have already left for Karabakh. The personnel of the peacekeeping mission, armored personnel carriers and other materiel are on board.

Pashinyan spoke about his lack of any other choice, except for signing the agreement, and admitted that the content of the statement is not beneficial for the Armenian side.

At the same time, after the announcement of the conclusion of peace, the inhabitants of Azerbaijan came out to celebrate the event on the streets of cities.

On the contrary, protests began in Yerevan. The Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia urged to refrain from actions that could undermine the foundations of the republic’s statehood. MP Naira Zohrabyan noted that the Prosperous Armenia opposition party intends to achieve the country’s withdrawal from the agreement on Nagorno-Karabakh.
