Turkey aims to develop and start applying its own vaccine against coronavirus infection by the spring of 2021. This was announced on October 30 by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking on local television.
“Turkey, on the one hand, is closely following the development of vaccines in China, Russia, the United States, and on the other, it is making active efforts to develop its own vaccine against coronavirus. The domestic vaccine may be ready in the spring, “RIA Novosti quoted Erdogan as saying.
He also noted that developed countries did not pass the solidarity test, and Turkey, he said, provided assistance to 155 countries and eight international organizations during the coronavirus pandemic.
In mid-October, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Erdogan during telephone conversations agreed to instruct the departments of the two countries to work out cooperation in the creation and production of a vaccine against coronavirus.
In August, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca announced that the country is developing 13 vaccines against coronavirus.
According to the Worldometer portal, as of October 30, 373.1 thousand cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Turkey, 10.1 thousand people died, 322.4 thousand patients recovered.
