The enterprises of the St. Petersburg hospitality sector, together with trade workers, continue to unite (albeit somewhat belatedly) in an attempt to fight for their rights. This time – for the right to wear instead of the prescribed masks – transparent plastic shields, and instead of plastic gloves – fabric ones. The scale of the struggle seems insignificant, but in fact, the problem, as they say, is obvious. Or on the face.

This is exactly what the collective letter from St. Petersburg entrepreneurs to the head of Rospotrebnadzor is about Anna Popova… The letter was sent on behalf of the newly created “Interdisciplinary Coordination Council of Hospitality and Services Enterprises” (as specifically indicated in the letter – shopping centers, hotels, catering, fitness clubs, beauty salons).

“Mandatory use of masks, – authors write– can be supplemented by the possibility of mandatory use of protective shields instead of masks. ”

This could prevent skin allergies and other problems in the “wearers” of masks, and also – which is important for this industry – would allow “to see the full face of the service worker”, which, of course, is very important in the service and hospitality sector.

The same is true with disposable gloves, which can (and do) cause all kinds of dermatitis, especially in hot weather. They could be replaced with ordinary fabric ones – fortunately, they can always be washed. At enterprises of the service sector, disinfection is carried out every two hours, and besides, sanitizers are always at hand, the authors of the letter remind. In other words, activists are asking to allow the use of gloves only in accordance with the requirements of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Rules, and not to come up with new rules.

The SvoeDeloPlus portal provides information that the Interindustry Council (who signed the letter) includes 16 St. Petersburg business associations, including the Association of Small Hotels of St. Petersburg, the Russian Hotel Association, FRIO Russia, the Commonwealth of Professional Guides, the Community of Shopping and Entertainment Centers of St. Petersburg “(Which is in the process of registration) and some others.
