A cyclone on Sakhalin damaged power lines. On the night of February 17, power engineers repaired the backbone transmission line so that the outages affected as few houses as possible. 37 brigades of 110 people and 50 pieces of equipment are now involved in the elimination of emergencies. They are engaged in, among other things, melting ice on high-voltage lines.

However, only in Tymovskiy district eight villages remain without electricity – Ado-Tymovo, Palevo, Voskhod, Slavy, Krasnaya Tym, Chir-Unvd, Irkir, Cheremshanka. Brigades from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Poronaysk have already gone there to help restore the power supply. Repair of networks is complicated by the fact that it is snowing and a strong wind blows, and the roads are swept up. True, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations coordinate with the authorities of the municipality to clear the roads to the facilities.

In addition, power supply was disrupted in some settlements of the Makarovsky, Poronaysky, Tomarinsky and Uglegorsky regions, as well as in the planning area of Khomutovo and the Oktyabrsky village of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
