Zoo defenders from the Umka animal shelter in Muravlenko urge Yamal residents to pay special attention to pets during the heat wave. They shared the details in their group on VKontakte.
According to the Gismeteo service, the weather will still please the residents of Yamal with warmth, in the coming days the air temperature in the cities of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug will stay within 23-26 degrees above zero. In hot weather, human fluffy four-legged friends require special care, according to employees of the Umka shelter from Muravlenko.
Animal rights activists do not recommend cutting long-haired dogs bald, as during walks in the heat, the skin can burn in the sun. It is better to walk the dogs before eight in the morning or after 18 in the evening, when it is not so hot. For a walk, you need to take a bottle of water for the animal with you, and on the street you cannot force your pet to run.
Experts recommend for cats to moisten the outer side of the ears with water, and also to carry it with wet hands all over the body. It is also better to moisten the pads of the cat’s paws with water. A long-haired cat can be trimmed a little.
By the way, if you feed animals with natural products, then make sure that the food is eaten within 30 minutes, and the leftovers must be thrown away. Pets should always have clean, cool drinking water and should not be locked up in an unventilated room or car.

If there are signs of heatstroke, take the animal to a cool place, such as a bathroom, basement, or simply an air-conditioned or ventilated room.
