If you get COVID-19 again, the disease is more severe. On Thursday, December 3, doctors working in the “red zones” spoke about this in an interview with the URA.RU portal.

According to a doctor in one of the clinics in Yekaterinburg, for the second time, the COVID-19 disease is more severe and is almost always accompanied by pneumonia. He also warned about the short-term effect of antibodies in those who have recovered.

“After the patient had been ill for the first time, the level of antibodies was at first high, but after a few months – zero, and he again gets to us,” the doctor said.

At the same time, the head of the hospital for veterans, Oleg Zabrodin, explained that the rate of antibodies does not depend on the severity of the course of the disease.

“I have met patients who were very difficult to tolerate COVID-19 and they had a low immunity stress. And it happens that a person was easily ill, but has a high titer of antigen, ”he said.

According to Zabrodin, this trend is determined by the characteristics of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and human immunity. The specialist expressed confidence that the percentage of re-infections will decrease when natural immunization occurs and vaccination of the population begins.

On November 24, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, announced the beginning of the third stage of the study of the population in Russia for population immunity to COVID-19. The head of the department emphasized that the body’s immune response occurs at every encounter with this virus. However, antibodies to it cannot disappear, but their level in the body may decrease.

Also in November, British scientists found out that immunity to coronavirus can form in patients who have not previously had COVID-19, but have had other diseases.
