The transition to on-demand diplomas in Russia can take five to ten years. Dmitry Peskov, special presidential envoy for digital and technological development, said this in an interview with Izvestia.

– These are diplomas that will show the current level of knowledge of the graduate at the moment. For example, before a person had a “three” for a certain programming language. He took courses, learned a lot, and knows the language “on the top”. This fact can be entered into the diploma, and it will correspond to the knowledge of the person now, and not when he received the document, – he explained the essence of the mechanism.

So far, there are no initiatives on the part of government agencies for “diplomas on demand”, Dmitry Peskov stressed. In his opinion, there will be a natural transition to a new format, which may take five to ten years.

Earlier, Dmitry Peskov, during a lecture for the educational intensive “Archipelago 20.35”, admitted that in the future the certificates may no longer be valid indefinitely.

– It’s crazy to issue a diploma for the rest of your life … Today this absurdity is the rule. Who told you that he has not forgotten 95% of what he actually learned there? ” – said the special representative of the president.

The idea of ”expiration dates” for university diplomas was not discussed with the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, the ministry’s press service reported on Tuesday.
