First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Hamacek said that Prague could take new measures against Russia, since Moscow’s reaction to the already imposed sanctions was too harsh.

“The reaction of the Russian side to the measures taken by Prague was very harsh. The measures taken by the Russian side were not a proportional response. We in the government will decide what to do next. A new proportional response cannot be ruled out on our part,” Hamacek said.

Recall that the Czech Republic declared 18 employees of the Russian Embassy in Prague “persona non grata”, linking their actions with the explosions at the ammunition depot in Vrbetica in 2014. Moscow, in turn, expelled 20 Czech diplomats from the country. At the same time, the ex-president of the Czech Republic Vaclav Klaus called the case against the Russian Federation fabricated.
