Crimea in the current conditions should not negotiate with Ukraine on the resumption of the supply of Dnieper water to the peninsula. This opinion was expressed by the chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea, Vladimir Konstantinov.
He stressed that Crimea and Ukraine should not have any relationship until Kiev “does not recognize Crimea as a community that has made its historical choice and had the right to return to its homeland,” RIA Novosti reports.
Konstantinov noted that the Ukrainian authorities are still aggressively disposed towards the inhabitants of the peninsula.
“Therefore, there is no need to talk about any water. They will pour sulfuric acid for us so that we can drink. Therefore, we need to forget about it, ”he said.
Earlier, on August 25, the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the trilateral contact group on the settlement of the conflict in Donbass, Leonid Kravchuk, spoke about the condition under which Kiev will resume water supply to Crimea.
The problem of water supply and irrigation in Crimea arose in 2014, when Ukraine unilaterally cut off water from the Kherson region.
Currently, residents and enterprises of the region receive water from local sources. At the same time, the current year turned out to be very dry.
The problems of water supply to Crimea will be resolved within five years, State Duma deputy Andrei Kozenko told Izvestia in February. The issue will be resolved thanks to the construction of new and reconstruction of existing reservoirs.
