Paris | France has recorded nearly 10,000 new cases of COVID-19 in the past twenty-four hours, very close to its record level since the launch of large-scale tests in the country, Public Health France announced on Wednesday.

In addition, 46 COVID patients died in hospital in the last 24 hours, against 37 the day before, the health agency said on its website, while the threshold of 31,000 deaths was crossed on Wednesday (31,045 ).
In detail, 9,784 cases of contamination were confirmed between Tuesday and Wednesday, against 7,852 cases the day before. The record of contaminations was reached on Saturday with more than 10,000 cases recorded in 24 hours.
2,976 COVID patients have been hospitalized over the last 7 days, more than 250 compared to the figures announced the day before, said the public health service.
In the past 24 hours, 649 new patients have been hospitalized, confirming an upward trend (545 Monday and 642 Tuesday).
Some 508 patients were in intensive care on Wednesday evening where serious cases are treated (against 479 the day before), including 100 admitted in the last 24 hours, while there were about 50 new admissions in sheaves in early September.
On the other hand, the positivity rate (proportion of the number of positive people compared to the total number of people tested) remained stable at 5.4%.
