China and US to set up working group to tackle climate change

China and the United States have agreed to set up a joint working group to combat climate change. Xinhua news agency reported.

Negotiations between the countries took place 18019 March in Anchorage, Alaska. From the American side, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Adviser to the President of the United States for National Security Jake Sullivan took part in them, from the Chinese side – Yang Jiechi, Head of the Chancellery of the CPC Central Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

The talks were held in an atmosphere of mutual accusations, but in the end, Jiechi said that the countries still managed to strengthen mutual understanding. Beijing expressed its readiness for an equal dialogue with Washington – without conflicts and confrontations.
