The RT TV channel in Russian released a story about the loudest criminal case of the “2000s” – the story of the Yaroslavl Satanists. The story is timed to coincide with the tenth anniversary of the sentencing of the eight participants in the case.

The case of the Yaroslavl Satanists thundered throughout the country in the summer of 2008. In July 2008, four teenagers aged 15 to 16 disappeared in Yaroslavl – three girls and one boy. In order to find them, all field operatives were sent. The case was taken under personal control by the then governor of the Yaroslavl region, Sergei Vakhrukov.

Thanks to the efforts of the officers of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for especially important cases, four weeks after the disappearance, all the missing were found. True, in the form of dismembered bodies in graves in a peat bog in the Krasnoperekopsky district of Yaroslavl. And the suspects were identified – 7 underage teenagers from Yaroslavl and Rybinsk, and Nikolai Ogolobyak, an 18-year-old resident of the Krasnoperekopsky district.

The Investigative Committee made the arrests. All suspects confessed, declaring themselves worshipers of Satan. And announcing that the murder was committed for the sake of a rite of worship of an evil spirit. Two years later, the court determined them a preventive measure. The longest term went to Ogolobiak, as the only adult. One of the community members went to serve time in a psychiatric hospital. Forced. The only girl from the community died of cancer.
