The United States has imposed new sanctions against Russia. The corresponding decree was signed by American leader Joe Biden, according to the White House website on Thursday, April 15.
The sanctions affected 16 legal entities and 16 individuals who allegedly tried to influence the presidential elections in 2020 at the direction of the Russian government.
In particular, the first deputy head of the Russian presidential administration, Alexei Gromov, Russian journalist Alexander Malkevich, and Denis Tyurin, who, according to Washington, is an “ex-employee of the GRU”, are included in the black list.
In addition, the United States is expelling 10 members of the Russian diplomatic mission in Washington. The United States also prohibited its companies from directly purchasing Russian debt securities issued by the Central Bank, the NWF or the Russian Ministry of Finance.
Biden decided to take action against Moscow in connection with allegations of Russia’s involvement in paying rewards to militants in Afghanistan for the killings of American soldiers.
Earlier, the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the restrictions, said that Moscow condemns any sanctions aspirations, considering them illegal, and will act on the basis of the principle of reciprocity to ensure national interests.
