The composition of the Armed Forces of Belarus is conducting exercises to eliminate the conditional enemy “, who crossed the border in the western direction. This was announced on Sunday, August 30, by the Ministry of Defense of the republic.
It is noted that a comprehensive tactical exercise in the Grodno direction is held from 28 to 31 August.
“A complex tactical exercise has entered an active phase with a consolidated grouping of forces under the leadership of the commander of the Western Operational Command, Major General Viktor Gulevich,” the ministry said in a statement.
The Ministry of Defense clarified that the exercises involved mechanized, tank, parachute, artillery, engineering units, as well as calculations of unmanned aerial complexes and electronic warfare.
Belarusian servicemen are practicing the search, blocking and destruction of sabotage and reconnaissance groups and illegal armed formations of the enemy using air search and assault groups of special operations forces in cooperation with tank and motorized rifle units.
Also, special attention will be paid to the defensive theme – the conduct of a defensive battle in two directions. In the course of practicing the stages of a defensive battle with a tank battalion, a stage of live firing will be held.
On August 28, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced that NATO had deployed 18 American fourth-generation F-16 fighters to the country’s border. Speaking about the military threat in the country, the President stressed that it really exists.
The Ministry of Defense of Belarus on August 18 announced the start of scheduled aviation flights near the state border.
As Lukashenko said on August 22, for the first time in a quarter of a century he had to make the most serious decision, bringing the main forces of the army to full combat readiness in connection with the activity of NATO troops near the country’s borders.
According to him, Western countries want to “drag” into Belarus a “new president”, whose “military support” is obvious – this is the movement of NATO troops to the borders.
Later, on August 24, the Belarusian Defense Ministry announced that within the framework of the third stage of a comprehensive check of the combat readiness of the country’s armed forces, individual military units would be brought to the highest degree of combat readiness.
In Belarus, since August 9, protests have not abated. On that day, presidential elections were held, in which Alexander Lukashenko won for the sixth time in a row with a score of 80.1%. Those who disagreed with these results began to take to the streets.
