Flood control measures for the village of Zarya of the Soviet District are a long-awaited joy. Most of the villagers’ households are located near the Kuma River. And during the periods of “high water” in 2002 and 2017, they experienced flooding. However, by the end of this year, shore protection will be completed here on a section with a length of over 2.5 km.

Flood control in the Stavropol Territory is provided by the state program “Environmental Protection”, which includes bank protection measures. In the current year, it is planned to carry out the work in total for funds in the amount of 800 million rubles, of which 83 million were allocated from the regional budget.

At 8 facilities, such work has been completed or is still underway until 2022. Bank protection of Kuma, in addition to the village of Zarya, is also waiting for Zelenokumsk and the village of Levokumka. The same work will be carried out with the banks of Podkumka at the site of the village of Bely Ugol, Kuban – in Nevinnomyssk, Bugunty – in Yessentuki, Donskoy Balka – in the village of the same name, Mokroy Karamyk – in Zelenokumsk.
