The Russian Association of Air Transport Operators asked the Ministry of Transport to organize a joint inspection of the pricing of aviation kerosene at Russian airports with the Ministry of Energy and the Federal Antimonopoly Service. Izvestia got acquainted with the letter to the Minister of Transport Yevgeny Dietrich.

According to the results of tenders held by air carriers, an increase in prices for kerosene was revealed compared to July at airports: Koltsovo (Yekaterinburg) by 62.1%, Domodedovo – by 33.4%, Zhukovsky – by 36%, Pulkovo – by 18%, Vladivostok airport – by 20.4%, Blagoveshchensk – by 21.1%, Irkutsk – by 28.1%, Krasnodar – by 48.4%, Krasnoyarsk – by 48.6%.

In “Rosneft” “Izvestia” was told that since the beginning of the second quarter the price of jet fuel at Moscow airports has been reduced by 40-46%. Experts note that during 2020 fuel was cheaper than a year earlier. The reason for the decline in prices was the coronavirus pandemic and the failure of the OPEC + deal in the first half of the year.

Izvestia’s interlocutors in the air transportation industry believe that the growth is associated with the opening of international flights: fuel companies raise prices every year with the start of the high season, when passenger traffic and airline revenues increase. This year, the rise in prices for jet fuel will reduce the profit of carriers in the summer season, worsening their financial situation at the end of 2020, which will end at a loss for them anyway. In the future, this may lead to an increase in air ticket prices.
