The head of the Chekhov District, Grigory Artamonov, opened the Alley of Sports Glory, according to a press release received by Izvestia on August 26.

“Young athletes will look at these photos of already outstanding athletes and strive to achieve new heights in sports and glorify the good traditions of athletes from the Chekhov region,” Artamonov said.

Photos of outstanding sports veterans and reigning champions of the Chekhov city district will be posted on the Walk of Fame.

The alley was located opposite the Olympic Sports Palace.

The opening ceremony was attended by Russian boxer, Olympic champion Alexander Povetkin, who on the night of 23 August defeated Briton Dillian White.

“This alley is necessary to honor the memory of honored sports veterans,” the athlete said.
