A truck for pumping out cesspools fell into an ice crack on Lake Baikal. This was announced on Saturday, February 6 by the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Irkutsk region on its page on the social network Facebook.

Special equipment with a load of household sewage waste in 10 tons can fall into the water of the lake, the Ministry of Emergency Situations admitted. The incident took place on Saturday morning in the Maloye More Strait. The driver managed to escape, no one was injured.

“The driver, despite the bans, left Khuzhir in a car with a total weight of more than 10 tons and tried to cross the strait on the ice,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Irkutsk Region reported. The depth of the lake at the place of the crack is about 20 meters.

Rescuers are currently considering evacuating the truck, but the exit is dangerous due to cracks.

“On February 5, almost all over the Maloe More Strait, cracks and gullies formed. Going to the ice is deadly! ” – warned the Emergencies Ministry.

In mid-January, a Muscovite who had fallen into the ice was pulled out at the pier of Gorky Park by the rescuers of the Krymsky Most search and rescue station.
