The seven-day championship of the Kaluga region among men and women in classical chess has ended in Kaluga. Its results on Wednesday, February 24, were announced in the regional chess federation.
60 athletes from eight to 82 years old took part in the competition. They represented not only Kaluga, but also Obninsk, Maloyaroslavetsky, Borovsky and Zhukovsky districts. They competed at the Orbita training base of the regional center.
Among men, the master candidate from Kaluga, Alexander Moiseev, scored the most points. He became the winner of the championship. Evgeny Kozhenkov, a candidate for master from Obninsk, lost only a little to him. The best additional indicators allowed the third place to be awarded to another representative of the science city Andrei Makovich.
Olesya Khobotova from Obninsk became the champion of the Kaluga region among women. In second place is the representative of Kaluga Tatyana Kogan, a young resident of the regional center Anna Okruzhnova lost to her.
The winners received the right to represent the Kaluga region in the Central Federal District championships among men and women, which will be held, respectively, in Tula and Bryansk.
