Moscow lost to Krasnodar, Surgut, Tyumen and St. Petersburg in the list of the most comfortable and affordable cities in Russia. This follows from the rating of the Urbanica Institute for Territorial Planning, the results of which were reviewed by RBC.

Experts analyzed the quality of the environment in the 100 largest cities of Russia, as well as the cost of living in them based on the average salary for this settlement.

The new rating was based on data for 2019 (in the previous year, for 2018), since the official social and economic indicators for 2020 have not yet failed.

Moscow is in the top five cities in the ranking, although in the previous one it was only in 52nd place. The authors explain such a place in the rating by the improvement of indicators for the provision of modern retail space and for the quality of improvement.

The first two places of the rating remained the same from last year – these are Krasnodar and Surgut. They are followed by Tyumen, displacing St. Petersburg from third place.

Murmansk, Tver, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Magnitogorsk and Ufa are also in the top ten for comfort and quality of life. Chita, Armavir, Biysk, Ulan-Ude and Ussuriysk took the last places in the rating. At the same time, Ussuriisk ranks last for the second year in a row.

Earlier, Russians named cities with the best salaries. The highest salary in the specialty, according to 86% of the country’s residents, can be received in Moscow. The capital is followed by St. Petersburg, it was noted by 29% of respondents. The respondents also named Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Sochi and Kazan.
