Trump the saboteur

We would have hoped that the crazy president would calm down over the holidays. But no, he redoubled his activity. His delirium increases with each new tweet. He is in the process of perfecting his work: a triple sabotage of American policy. Sabotage that will have painful consequences for Americans and for the rest of the world.

The first sabotage is that of the presidency of Joe Biden.

The Donald would announce his candidacy for the presidency on the very day of Biden’s inauguration, in order to steal the show. Trump also called a large demonstration this Wednesday in Washington, to fuel the illusion that the election was illegitimate.

  • Listen to Loïc Tassé’s column with Benoit Dutrizac on QUB Radio:

There is no doubt that the patient Trump will be comforted by the crowd that has come to support his whims.

Trump will not hesitate to hold large rallies in the coming months, which will further inflame public opinion and complicate the appeasement and political reunification desired by Biden.

The second sabotage is that of the Republican Party.

Republican elected officials are torn between support for Trump and respect for democracy. Supporting Trump translates into generous donations to their campaign fund. Supporting democracy causes the loss of the votes of a large part of Trumpist voters.

Bursting

Republican elected officials who still have a certain conscience will choose democracy. But many senators and representatives demand a special commission of inquiry into the elections and refuse to recognize the results. To the point where the Republican Party is on the verge of breaking up.

The good news is that a number of senators and Republican representatives could go independent and support Biden from time to time.

The third sabotage affects American foreign policy.

If American allies find that Joe Biden is pretty much paralyzed or that Trump is in danger of winning the 2024 election, then the United States will definitely lose its role as world leader.

In that case, no matter what Biden did internationally, democracies would work out without the United States. Such a vacuum would have global impacts. He would favor China and the other dictatorships.

Scenarios

The best case scenario is that Trump soon ends up in jail due to the New York State lawsuits. It is not excluded that, feeling the legal stranglehold tightening, he tries to join Gérard Depardieu in Russia – a hypothesis which would have seemed far-fetched not so long ago.

The worst-case scenario is that Biden never really manages to install his power, that his leadership is undermined not only by Trump, but also by the fanaticism of radical Democrats.

Good leaders hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. Canada could face increasing instability in the south. Under the circumstances, it has no choice but to strengthen all aspects of its security and increase its autonomy from the United States. Good luck.
