“Today, on December 20, according to an old and good tradition, Christmas tree markets are opening in Moscow. This year there are 207 of them, ”the website of the mayor of Moscow quotes him.

All sites are decorated in the same style approved by the Moscow Committee for Architecture and Construction, they have a fence resembling a spruce tree and a signboard “Yolochny Bazaar”.

“The sellers must have documentation with information about the origin of trees and approved prices, as well as measuring instruments,” the message says.

Illegal sites are monitored and eliminated by police officers. The fine for unauthorized trade in Christmas trees is up to 10 thousand rubles for individuals and up to 200 thousand for legal entities.

Earlier that day, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin warned about the risks of holding New Year’s feasts with a large number of participants, especially with the elderly. He urged Muscovites to be careful when going to shopping centers and shops.
