The resolution of 1972 on the suspension of the preliminary investigation in the criminal case of the massacres of USSR citizens in the Krasnodar Territory by members of the Hitlerite punitive body Sonderkommando SS-10a was canceled. This was reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation. It is noted that the decision was made after studying the criminal case. It showed that the materials contained information about the convictions for war crimes of 6 translators from among the members of the SS-10a Sonderkommando, as well as that the translators Helmut Oberlander, Hirsch and others (7 people in total) left the territory of the USSR during the retreat of the German fascist troops, their whereabouts are unknown. At the same time, there is information that Oberlander lives on the territory of one of the foreign states. In addition, there is information about the involvement of other persons in the crimes under investigation, but no legal assessment of their actions has been given.
The investigation after the war established the following facts. Members of the “Sonderkommando SS-10a” (“Einsatzkommando 10a”) in 1941-1943 committed mass murders of citizens of the USSR by shooting and using mobile gas chambers (“gas chambers”) on the territory of the Krasnodar Territory. In the village of Maryanskaya, 47 people were shot. In machines-“gas chambers” in the village of Berezanskaya killed about 300 patients of the medical correctional institution. In the village of Tretya Rechka Kochety (Chernyshevka), 42 patients of the children’s psychiatric hospital were gassed. In Krasnodar, at least 40 patients of hospital No. 3 and patients of the Krasnodar psychiatric hospital were killed. In the village of Staro-Shcherbinovskaya, over 200 people were shot, 214 children from orphanages were strangled in “gas chambers”.
On November 28, 1972, the preliminary investigation in the criminal case was suspended due to the failure to identify other persons involved in these atrocities.
In December 2020, the Deputy Prosecutor of the Krasnodar Territory made a decision to transfer the criminal case to the investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation to organize further investigation.
