On behalf of the US government, a study was carried out on how great the danger of becoming infected for family members of a patient with coronavirus was. Observations in several localities in Wisconsin were carried out for six months.
It turned out that in two weeks after the detection of infection in one of the family members, more than half of his relatives become infected. And the older this patient is, the higher the number of people infected. Moreover, if the first sick person was a minor, the number of relatives who caught the infection is not so large, and the coronavirus is hardly transmitted from children at all.
In this regard, the authors of the study advise those who have been in close contact with the sick person to take safety measures, first of all, to self-isolate, without waiting for the test results, Science Alert reports.
