The military aviation of Belarus began scheduled flights as part of the protection of the country’s state border in the airspace. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic on August 18.
“In accordance with the training plan of the Armed Forces, scheduled flights of the An-26 50 SAB, Yak-130 116 ShAB, Su-30SM 61 IAB aviation will be carried out <...>. Pilots of 116 ShAB and 50 SAB during flight tactical exercises will work out joint actions as part of aircraft pairs, ”the message says.
The military department noted that as part of the preparation of a tactical drill with live firing of Tunguska anti-aircraft missile and cannon systems and launches of Igla portable anti-aircraft missile systems, several anti-aircraft missile artillery battalions of the Air Defense Forces will be moved and unloaded from rail transport.
With other units, they will conduct training in driving combat vehicles and special tactical training.
Earlier, on August 16, it was reported that the exercises were conducted by units of the missile forces and artillery of Belarus near the border with Lithuania.
On August 15, the head of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, expressed concern about the exercises of NATO forces in Poland and Lithuania. He ordered to transfer the airborne brigade from Vitebsk to Grodno due to the tense situation on the western borders.
