US Secret Service Confirms Shooting Near White House

The US Secret Service confirmed that there was a shooting near the White House on Monday, August 10, due to which President Donald Trump was forced to leave the press conference.

According to the department, the shooting took place in Washington at the corner of 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. An officer of the Secret Service took part in the shootout, Interfax reports.

“The male suspect and the Secret Service officer were taken to a local hospital. During this incident, neither the White House complex nor any of the protected persons were in danger, ”the service said.

Now law enforcement officers are working at the scene.

Earlier, Trump, at the request of the security officers, was forced to interrupt the press conference. Trump was followed by his administration staff, including Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin.

A few minutes later, Trump returned, said that there had been shooting near the White House and law enforcement officers opened fire on the suspect and apparently wounded him. According to him, no one else was hurt.
