US President Donald Trump, speaking on Monday, August 10 at a press conference at the White House, said that he would definitely invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to the G7 summit. Reported by KTLA5.

“I would certainly invite him to a meeting. I think he is an important character, ”he said.

The American leader noted that he is considering the possibility of holding a G7 summit after the general elections in the United States.

“I am more determined to do it sometime after the elections,” the head of the White House said.

On May 31, Trump decided to postpone the G7 summit to September due to the difficult epidemiological situation in the world, and also expressed a desire to invite Russia, India, South Korea and Australia to it.

Later, the American ambassador to Russia, John Sullivan, said that Moscow and Washington were discussing details of Russia’s possible participation in the G7 meeting.

However, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov denied this information, noting that it is impossible to discuss any issues in the modern world without China’s participation.

The G7 currently includes the United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, Britain, France and Italy. Russia left the association in 2014. At the same time, Moscow noted that it does not seek to return, since this format is not as effective as the G20.
