President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on Sunday, August 9, announced that his country will buy oil and gas wherever it suits it.
“We shouldn’t be dependent on one country. You perfectly understand this. Therefore, we are cooperating, including with Poland, in this regard, ”BelTA quotes the Belarusian leader.
On April 13, Russian oil companies issued 1.33 tons of oil for delivery in April to Belarusian refineries.
On the same day, Lukashenko called on Russia to reduce the price of natural gas for the republic in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.
On April 15, press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, answering the question whether it is possible to revise gas prices for Minsk, which Lukashenka is asking for, said that this issue would be discussed at the level of experts.
On the oil side, Russia cut off fuel supplies to Belarusian refineries in early April. This happened due to the fact that during the negotiations on the terms of delivery, the parties did not reach an agreement. In early April, after several months of negotiations with Moscow, Minsk agreed to conclude April contracts with Russian oil companies for the supply of raw materials at a price of $ 4 per barrel.
Lukashenko also stated that the country will continue to buy oil from Russia, but will work with other suppliers.
On July 14, Belarus and Russia signed three international documents, two of which relate to changes in the terms of the Russian loan for the construction of the BelNPP, and another regulates the terms of supply of Russian oil to Minsk.
