In June, the number of deaths from coronavirus infection fell in the Russian regions, which were the first to be hit by the epidemic. This was announced on August 7 by Rosstat.
They recalled that the agency identifies four groups of deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19: when the coronavirus is the main cause of death; when it is assumed as the main cause of death; when the coronavirus affected the development of other diseases and contributed to the emergence of complications that hastened the death of the patient; when the coronavirus is diagnosed, but in no way affected the onset of death.
The statistics, in particular, provide data for Moscow. In June, the city recorded 1,329 cases of COVID-19 becoming the leading cause of death. In May, there were 2324 such cases (a decrease of 42.8% was recorded).
Cases when COVID-19 could cause complications that eventually led to the death of a patient were recorded in Moscow in June 784, and in May – 980 (a decrease of 20%).
In total, 877 135 cases of a new coronavirus infection were recorded in Russia during the pandemic, of which 5241 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, 683 592 patients recovered, 14 725 died.
Earlier, on August 6, it was reported that scientists linked a low temperature of 35.5 degrees with an increased risk of death from COVID-19. According to them, 44% of this group of patients die – these figures are even higher than the statistics of mortality of patients with an overestimated, more than 40 degrees, temperature.
