Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree lifting restrictions on state purchases of foreign drugs for the treatment of leukemia and lymphoma, as well as orphan diseases in children. This was reported on Friday, August 7, on the website of the Russian government.

“We are talking about drugs from the list of vital and essential medicines (VED). Foreign medicines included in this list do not participate in auctions if there are similar offers from at least two manufacturers from the EAEU countries, ”the publication says.

In particular, the list of drugs that are no longer covered by the rule includes filgrastim, caspofungin, micafungin, carboplatin, voriconazole, sevoflurane, rituximab and fludarabine. These medicines are used in malignant neoplasms of lymphoid and hematopoietic tissues, as well as in the treatment of orphan diseases in children.

On January 15, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a message to the Federal Assembly, in which he called for no more interruptions in the supply of vital and important medicines and not to be negligent about it.

According to him, some officials treated the supply of such drugs as the purchase of stationery.

The Russian leader demanded that the Cabinet of Ministers flawlessly debug the work on the import of medicines not registered in Russia, including foreign ones, so that they would be timely received by patients.

On January 13, then Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev ordered to allocate 22 million rubles for the purchase of medicines abroad for children with serious illnesses.
