The Russian Foreign Ministry published on its website a commentary on the detention of 32 Russians in a sanatorium near Minsk, whom the Belarusian authorities called fighters of the Wagner PMC, who had arrived to destabilize the situation.
The statement of the Russian foreign policy department notes that such an odious interpretation of the Belarusian side of this incident does not stand up to criticism.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that a group of Russians followed in transit through Minsk to Istanbul, having in hand all the necessary documents, including air tickets.
“All logistics on the territory of Belarus were provided by a Belarusian company,” the statement says. It also notes that the Belarusian authorities, including the aviation authorities, have all the necessary documents to establish the truth.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also demanded access to the detained Russians by consular officers and expressed hope for a balanced approach of the Belarusian authorities to establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
The Russian Foreign Ministry proposed to stop whipping up negative emotions unnecessary during the election period.
